In addition to the plants we buy in from more specialist British growers, we also have home grown plants (in organic compost) of more unusual seasonal herbaceous, biennial and annual cultivars. |
Early Summer in the Garden
In June the garden reaches as tumult of growth and opulence filled with roses, peonies, lavender and spectacular herbaceous plants such as delphiniums, lupins and hollhocks.
Careful planting can extend the season, look out for montbretras (crocosmias), knifphofias, schizostylis, heleniums, rudbeckias amongst others yet to come.
Good 'long players' include hybrid hardy geraniums such as G. 'Ann FoLkard', G.'Patricia', dahlias and penstemons.
The herb garden still looks well, but be prepared to shear lavenders back after flowering. This serves to both lenghten the life of the plant and to keep in within bounds. Some varieties may reflower, such as Lavandula Hidcote.
Most, if not all, of these plants are currently available at the Nursery.
